About Us

Brighton University Drama Society (BUDS) was established in the Summer of 2006 and was the first drama society at the university for several years.

We at the Brighton University Drama Society provide an opportunity for students to become involved in the production and performance of the dramatic arts.
With weekly sessions, every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Sallis Benny Theatre on Grand Parade, we aim to get everyone involved in acting, performing, and production.

Every year, we put on two major productions, including one at the Brighton Fringe festival, as well as a number of variety shows, called TasteBUDS, that occur throughout the year.

Members are encouraged to also come along for the social side between productions.

There are also many opportunities for members to take part in the technical and backstage side of the productions, such as making props, set design, costume fittings, as well as sound and lighting design in professional as well as unconventional theatre spaces.

If you have any further questions about the society, feel free to drop us an email, or message our Instagram @buds_brighton_drama
