How would you boost employability for Brighton students?

I will boost employability by introducing masterclass, that's information will be sent to society leaders, then they will decided if they wish to ask there members if they wish to join, these masterclass will be hosted by lecturers, fellow students, alumni and people who work in the fields that the master class will be based on. By doing this it will give students more information on different industries and gives the chance for them to ask questions to professionals. This will help the students by also sharing with them what the employees are in fact looking for as well as information on that will help improve their studies.

How would you improve the experience in societies and student media?

I will improve the experience in societies and student media by talking directly to students. By doing this I will see what they want their societies to be about, and hopefully this will make more students join a society or even better make their own society. This is what I did alongside my friends and course mates. One issue I have also realized is that some societies have more of a budget then others, this is due to some societies doing crowd funders and events. I would personally give ideas on what new and struggling societies can do to help them have more of a budget.

What skills or expertise do you have that would make you suitable for the role?

I have gathered many different skills that I feel will help me thrive as an activities officer, some from being the course representative for Media Production in the current academic year, being the vice president of the BSU Film & Media Society as well as working at the Basement Central Cafe. Skills I feel would be significant for this role are:

Problem solving - working in hospitality, there are issues that come up that you need to solve efficiently.

events management - I have organized and ran events for the BSU Film & Media Society.

social media management - I helped to run the BSU Film & Media Society’s social media

Time and management skills - time and management skills I use for both my personal life and my professional life.

Leadership and teamwork - I use these skills in both work at the café, in the society and as a course representative.
