How would you build belonging & community at the University of Brighton?

  • University of Brighton Students find themselves at a disadvantage to other universities because our courses are split up amongst multiple campuses.
  • By working to increase inter-society and inter-course events I hope I can help students meet people they otherwise wouldn’t cross paths with.
  • Collaboration is a key element of community building and by having regular interaction between members of different courses and societies, students can create a diverse group of friends and feel connected to university life.

How would you work to amplify underrepresented student voices?

  • I would work to implement a regular open forum (attended by staff and student union) where students can raise issues that affect them face-to-face with someone.
  • By creating safe spaces like these where students can express themselves, they can be assured that their concerns are addressed and that they have a platform to advocate for their needs and interests directly.
  • I would focus on uplifting underrepresented voices in all areas of student life from curriculum to social activities so that underrepresented student voices are not only heard but also empowered to drive positive change.

What skills or expertise do you have that would make you suitable for the role?

  • Being a part of the socialist student society committee has taught me a lot about the everyday lives of students and why community is important.
  • Working for real change and creating a space for everyone are things I am passionate about and already do in my day-to-day life.
  • studying music business has taught me how to collaborate and manage a project or event effectively to meet certain aims and objectives.
