We’re on a Journey
Our Big Plan has been born from listening to our members, our staff and our university colleagues.
We wanted to understand more about our purpose, the value we bring to Brighton and how we can support our members to get the most from their time with us.
We ran surveys, held focus groups, interviewed people and spoke with lead volunteers. Thank you to everyone that played a part. You can read a summary of our research below and see how it helped us create our big plan.
We regularly carry out research to understand your views and experience, scroll down to find out more about our reserach

Governance
As a registered charity, Brighton Students’ Union is governed by a trustee board.
Our trustees include our four full-time student officers and up to four student trustees. We also have up to four external trustees, who have specific skills or experience in our sector.
Our Trustee Board meets four times a year. It is responsible for ensuring Brighton Students’ Union is a well-governed, well-managed, and sustainable organisation. The board regularly reviews progress against our objectives and ensures we are meeting our charitable aims.

Research
Understanding Brighton students’ experience is key to what we do at Brighton Students’ Union. We help make your voices heard to the University, local community and on a national level.
To do this, we regularly carry out research to understand how you are doing at Brighton and what you need to make your experience here even better.
There are lots of different ways you can share your experiences with us:
- Feedback to your Student Voice Leader
- Complete a feedback form after using BSU services
- Speak with your full-time officer team
- Talk to BSU staff, in person or email us
- Take part in a focus group
- Complete our BSU Student Survey
- Message our socials
BSU Student Survey
Our main student survey is sent out each month to a group of students across the year, and every Brighton student will receive the survey once. Remember to keep an eye out for the survey in your inbox. Great prizes each month for taking part, and you get the chance to make life better for Brighton students.
