About Us

Our aim as a society is to get students to gain experience in games development by participating in game jams in a low stakes environment; we also aim to offer resources about the games industry and indie games development for students who are interested in a games industry or adjacent job after university.

We want to offer a range of activities, as we know doing game jams can be stressful, especially if you have little to no experience in games development. Game jam participation is totally optional, so please don't feel pressured to join in if you are not comfortable!

Some activities we are planning to offer include:*
  • University game jams (jams hosted by us or the university's games course staff)
  • External game jams (jams not run or managed by our committee, society or university, but that we participate in as a society- for example, Ludum Dare)
  • Mini challenge design briefs to help you develop the necessary skills required for quick, intense projects such as game jams
  • Game nights (in-person): tabletop (DnD and/or Pathfinder 2e), board/card games (Uno, Monopoly etc.)
  • Game night (online): Among Us, Skribbl.io, etc.
  • Game analysis and/or discussion sessions
  • Potential trips to close-by games-relevant places (e.g. the Loading Bar down by the pier)

*Please note that no events have been booked or confirmed as of yet, due to the society being freshly adopted by a new committee. All activities are subject to optional participation!

Please join our Discord to keep up to date with any events or announcements regarding the society.
