About Us

BSU ISoc aims to build a safe space in practicing Islam as a Muslim student at university, whilst dealing with the trials and challenges that may occur. Guidance and opportunities are found here I'S'A

The purpose of the Society is to represent the Muslim students at Brighton University and provide them with a safe and comfortable environment to practice the Islamic faith. The Islamic society openly welcomes Muslims and non-Muslims alike to events and aims to foster a warm supportive community where faith can be appreciated as an important part of one's identity.

We aim to support students in their way of practising Islam, encouraging the relationship between oneself and Allah SWT and to uphold Sunnah. The prayer room is a means of students to practice, and therefore, as an ISoc we also aim to represent Muslims studying at Brighton and advocate for our needs.

We often hold charity fundraisers, particularly during the week of Islamic Relief's Charity Week in order to help raise money for orphans and the needy around the world. We also hold deen-related events, such as brothers and sisters Halaqahs, segregated dinners and other events like quiz nights for students to relax in the comfort of University campus.

This is a safe place to discuss important matters that affect Muslims, reminding each other and themselves of their duties as a Muslim, pondering on the life of the Prophets, peace and blessings be upon them, and the lessons we can take from noble figures in Islam.

Provided the space is available on time, we will be meeting in the Watts prayer rooms and larger events will be held in Cockroft.
