How would you boost employability for Brighton students?
I would do this by continuing my work with the head of employability in the university and the rest of the career and employability team to organize more networking events, career fairs that focus on a larger range of careers and more skills development programs like the change makers challenge we did and the ongoing leadership and mentoring programs.
Working with the city council and local businesses to attract more graduate employers to the city as well as promoting student led businesses with a business expo within the university to promote peer employment.
Working with the alumni team to foster more networking opportunities for students interested in both specific and general career paths.
How would you improve the experience of students in societies?
Continuing with society socials for students and increasing the rewards for the active societies, making more festival styled events and more themed society nights.
Increasing Funding and resources such as more society grants and make the process to get grants easier and more efficient.
Organizing larger collaborative events where societies can work together on activities like cultural nights, charity events and fundraisers like Brighton's Got Talent next month.
Working more with society's in order to create more fun events like the collaboration with psychology society for the events for mental wellbeing week.
Campaigning for cheaper travel costs with Brighton and Hove buses and Southern railway as well as reduce the prices of participating in sports.
What skills or expertise do you have that would make you suitable for the role?
