During our Freshers' Week activities we only work with long standing and reputable providers to ensure students receive the best quality experience possible. This starts with safety, in which we ensure the following:
- We ensure all venues have up to date insurance and risk assessments in place
- There’s a no ID = no entry policy in place for events

- Both male and female security are present at each venue
- We have dedicated welfare zones set up for those who encounter issues, and/or a designated safe space - All our venues take part in the 'Ask for Angela' initiative.

- There are trained medical teams at Pryzm Nightclub and Boundary Festival

- We have regular contact and meetings with the police, council, local security and night-time vendors to ensure we keep track of all reports of indecent behaviour and misconduct

- We have a scheme set up in collaboration with Sussex Students’ Union which includes SU presence at our regular club nights.
- We support the Royal Life Saving Society's work to promote safe behaviours around water - check out @RLSSUK’s Don’t Drink and Drown campaign and their video HERE. Remember to look after each other on a night out and keep all members of your group safe #BeAMate.

Brighton Students' Union and The University of Brighton are committed to upholding a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for everyone in our community, and we are all collectively responsible for this aim. Students and staff have a right to always be treated with dignity and respect, and we take a zero-tolerance approach to any behaviour that contradicts our values. We have adopted a host of measures and initiatives, which uphold our commitment to achieving this critical objective and address any incidents that occur through a whole-university approach.
We all have a role to play in furthering this work, so you will also see an overview of how we plan to liberate the talent of staff and students, to ensure everyone has the skills they need to succeed in a healthy and inclusive place to work and study.
This also extends into the night-time economy where we regularly liaise on any reports that come in regarding our student nights and clubs. It is vital that our students feel safe whilst out in our local affiliated venues.
