For University accommodation or ‘halls’, usually you can only apply to live here if you are entering into your first year of study with the University of Brighton. You will normally be offered a place in university halls if you meet the following criteria:

- You have made Brighton your firm choice of university.

- You are starting your first year of full-time study.

- You book your university accommodation by the deadline notified to you.

Some students who are not in their first year are also eligible to live in halls, you can find out if you are eligible here. If you have any issues or have any questions you can email the accommodation team at accommodation@brighton.ac.uk. If your landlord or estate agent requires you to provide a guarantor but you do not have one, then there are some options.

If you can afford to then you could offer to pay some of your rent up front to the landlord, not all landlords may accept this but you could open a discussion with them to see if there is an agreement you can reach.

You could also consider using an external guarantor service such as Housing Hand and Rent Guarantor, however please be aware that using these services can incur additional cost to you, and remember to read through any contract you sign with them carefully.
