Ilia - BSU President:

“Last month, I had the pleasure to attend the Winter Graduation Ceremony for all students graduating this term. It was great to see so many students moving to the next stage of their lives and hopefully encourage some to the challenges to follow with an opportunity given to me to conduct a speech. Alongside helping out with the Refreshers Fair which was a great success this year! This month also brought a conference for Students’ Unions in the south, where I and other officers gathered insights on what other SUs are doing to improve student life. I also represented the student course rep feedback on SESEC meetings, bringing student feedback into action for course-related improvements.”

Doris - Activities Officer:

“Last month, I organised the Student Business Expo to showcase some of our university's student businesses in collaboration with the BeePurple Team from the University's Careers and Employability Team. The Expo also gave a chance to interested students to find out more about how to start and run a business, or how to grow a current one. It was a great event and it was amazing to see all the students network and express their ideas! This month, I also held the Society Takeover. The event brought together society committee members and members to network, play some games, and share feedback. I also had the opportunity to attend the Winter Graduations and celebrate with the graduates and their loved ones, as well as attend the Southern SUs Conference to network with other officers and share ideas.”

Favour - International and Postgraduate Officer:

“Last month, I participated and helped to host a successful Rereshers Fair where I got the opportunity to meet students, societies and student entrepreneurs. I also facilitated the Language Lounge's inaugural session and I aim to offer more in the future. Along with other officers, I also attended the Southern SUs Conference where we had collaborative discussions with fellow officers. Our conversation centred around matters concerning students and strategising on how to effectively adapt to and embrace any forthcoming changes.”

Osasu - Education Officer:

“This month, I organised and held successfully a Course Rep meetup which allowed reps to discuss current issues, and give feedback, opinions and thoughts on their courses, schools, the university and BSU. I also attended the Quality and Standard Committee and UESEC to see the approval of one of our campaigns which is the non-evidence self-certification of extension once a semester, and this was approved and moved on to the academic board. I also attended the beautiful Winter Graduation, celebrating the success of our students. As well as the Southern SUs conference with unions from all over the south.”
