Every student should have the financial security to focus on their education without the stress of making ends meet. The ongoing cost-of-living crisis continues to place tremendous pressure on students. Rising costs are forcing difficult choices, with many students cutting back on essentials like heating and eating, which undermines their academic success and overall well-being. This year, we shall work towards elevating and supporting students with the cost of living. 

All students should be able to shine personally, socially, and academically. It’s as simple as that. A vibrant campus community is crucial for student success. Without a dynamic and welcoming community, students may feel isolated and disconnected, negatively affecting their academic performance, personal development, and overall university experience. This year, we strive to improve and further solidify the aspect of the community. 

We want all students to feel that their campus has all the facilities needed for them to thrive during their time on-site. Whether it is the community you feel on City Campus, Moulsecoomb and Falmer, or the amenities you can access, we’re here to ensure that everything is up to your expectations and that you know who and where we are. 

Coming to University is a big step, and every student deserves to feel supported, valued, and heard (and not just when things go wrong). This year, we’re focusing on developing our wellbeing activities alongside lobbying for academic changes; making sure every student knows where to turn to find BSU and feels safe to reach out. In all we want everyone to have access to the resources they need to thrive, personally, socially, and academically.  

We love having our students here, but we know that thinking about what comes next after graduating can feel daunting. That’s why this year, we’re focusing on helping everyone gain the skills and confidence to take their next steps, with workshops, inspiring speakers, and placement opportunities to prepare for life beyond university. If you already have a business, you’ll also have the chance to promote it at our BSU Business Expo.
