Maa Month 2021
PLEASE TELL US THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT
Our target was to raise £1000 throughout the entire month for Maa Charity. The money raised provides crucial funding for Maa to continue running health camps for mothers and young women in rural areas of Bangladesh
HOW DID THE ATTENDEES PARTICIPATE?
Everyone had the task to raise at least £50 in the last week of February to win £1000 added to our total but also to reach our personal target of £1000. With the help of everyone who took part (some who raised more than their target of £50) we reached our ultimate goal.
WHAT DID YOU LEARN?
We learnt that any amount of donations count!! Whether thats £2 or £50, we as a team, collectively did a great job. To reach our target and then win £1000 was a milestone for us especially as we're a new society. A couple members were shocked that they could reach their target, which shows that we can reach whatever target we set ourselves and even if we don't we can say that we tried.
HOW DID THE EVENT BENEFIT STUDENTS?
After attending the Maa Awards (early March) we won Best Institutional Newcomers and also came 3rd with a total of £2197. The result, comments/shoutouts by other societies and members of Maa Charity inspired participants to get involved in further activities held by Bangladeshi Society because of how well we did as a team!
